Officer Job Descriptions
Our children's success is relying on parents volunteering
their time. Whether it is in the classroom or in the office, whether you
can commit to a year long position or just a few weeks in the year, you
will be appreciated!

The following are
brief descriptions of the leadership positions available to parent
volunteers at Mohr through the PTA.
President:
Includes the responsibility to lead the school PTA toward specific goals
chosen by the membership. There are the following meetings the President
must attend monthly: Executive Board, Association, Pleasanton PTA
Council and the Parent Communication Council meetings.
Exec. Vice
President:
Serve
as the primary aide to the President. Performs the duties of the
President in the absence or disability of that officer to act. Attend
the above-mentioned meetings in the absence of the President.
Secretary:
Keep an accurate record of the proceedings of all meetings of the
association and the Executive Board in a bound book, which is the legal
record of the PTA. Perform such other duties as may be delegated.
Treasurer:
Keep such permanent books of account and records of all receipts and the
disbursements perform all bookkeeping and accounting functions of the
PTA. Prepare all financial reports, pay all authorized bills, and
present monthly financial reports at the monthly membership meeting.
Financial Secretary:
Deposit all monies received by the school PTA, keep accurate records of
all deposits for filing with the Treasurer’s financial records for the
Association. Present a monthly report with the Treasurer’s report at
the Association meetings.
VP of Programs &
Services:
Oversees all fundraising activities approved by the Association.
Attends Committee meetings and reports to the Executive Board. Stays
current with upcoming grants, awards etc.
VP of Membership:
Responsible for conducting a membership campaign. Keep record of
current membership.
VP of Legislation:
Responsible for keeping membership aware of legislation in the State and
National PTA. Reports information from School Board meetings to the
membership at the monthly Association meetings.
Parliamentarian:
Attend all meetings of the Association and of the Executive Board and
give necessary advice in parliamentary procedure when requested.
Oversees the nomination/election committee and chair the by-laws
committee.

-- Compile and edit submissions for monthly school and PTA newsletter
for publishing

Pizza w/ the Principal
-- assist with
monthly student luncheon

P.P.I.E. (Pleasanton
Partners in Education)
-- attend monthly
meetings

Public Relations/Publicity
-- create flyers for
PTA events
·
Recycling

occurs every other month; collection and redemption of plastic
containers and aluminum cans; at
least 45 minutes

Resource Helper
--
work w/ resource specialist
·
Room Parent
-- assist teacher w/
classroom activities
·
School Health and Wellness
-- attend monthly meetings to be
informed with various health issues concerning children. Write
health related articles for school newsletter

School Historian
-- compile pictures
and rosters of events in a scrapbook
·
Technology Committee
-- help w/ purchases
and implementation
·
Traffic Advisory -- attend meetings when necessary and work
closely with Principal on traffic safety
·
Website
-- manage and update school and PTA information on website.
·
Wednesday Packets
once a week for an
hour to assemble packets to take home

Yearbook
-- collect
photographs and design layout for yearbook

Workshop, meet with the Scholastic rep, recruit and schedule volunteers,
promote book fair, set up books when delivered, work at the book fair,
and prepare a financial statement at the end of the book fair.

your input on programs and funds are valuable. Please join the Exec.
Board every fourth Tuesday of the month for the PTA monthly meetings.
